Endrick dos Santos is close to a first appearance for Star City FC, the Malaysian Football League said on 9 October, after a knee ligament injury that has kept the midfielder out since July.
The Harimau Malaya player has been training on the pitch with the squad after three months of rehabilitation from an MCL injury. He told the league that his recovery had gone very well and that his body had responded positively to treatment. If there are no major problems, he said, he is likely to be with the team for the coming match, though that decision rests with the coach. The hardest part of the layoff, he added, was being unable to help either his club or the national team on the pitch.
Star City FC are 11th of 12 in the Malaysia Super League table, with two points from four matches: two draws and two defeats. Endrick pointed out that Mehmet Durakovic’s side have played only once at home in those four matches, and said injuries were the one thing that had held the team back.
Star City FC lost the first leg of their Malaysia FA Cup quarter-final 4-1 to Selangor FC at Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium on 19 September. The second leg is at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya, on Sunday 11 October, kicking off at 8.30pm.
