Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan named the chairs and deputy chairs of the eleven FAM standing committees for the rest of the 2025-2029 term at his first meeting as president of the Football Association of Malaysia.

The executive committee met for the sixth time this term at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya on Wednesday 30 September. The nine other members elected at the Second FAM Extraordinary Congress at Hilton Petaling Jaya on 17 September were all present.

The president keeps two committees

Ab Ghani chairs Finance and Management, with Datuk Saaran Nadarajah as his deputy, and the National Football Team Management Committee, with Datuk Seri Hj Rosmadi Ismail as his. Rosmadi in turn chairs Technical and Development, and Saaran the Legal Committee.

Dato’ Suraya Yaacob takes the FAM Competitions Organising Committee and Datuk Syed Mahadi Syed Hassan the Media and Marketing Committee. R. Muniandy Rethiah chairs the referees and Mohd Azizudin Mohd Shariff player status, while Dato’ Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin takes medical and sports science.

The last pair go to CP Dato’ Sri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri at Stadium and Security, and Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Haji Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay at Integrity.

Two posts unchanged

Datuk Noor Azman Hj Rahman stays as FAM general secretary and Dato’ Haji Ismail Karim as treasurer.

Three of those committees are closed to the executive committee itself: Article 47, clause 2 of the FAM statutes bars their chairs and deputy chairs from sitting on it, covering Stadium and Security, Integrity and the referees.

Harimau Malaya play Singapore in the FIFA ASEAN Cup on 1 October, at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, kicking off at 8.30pm Malaysian time.
