Juan Torres has asked Sabah FC for a tidier display, above all in defence, when they visit Negeri Sembilan FC in the Malaysia Super League on 17 October, the head coach told MFL.
According to MFL, Torres admitted his side had often gone a goal down first in recent matches, which had made a positive result harder to chase. He wants the players to tighten the team’s structure and raise their discipline so the same errors are not repeated. That was one of the main areas of work during the three-week break, he said, after two defeats in a row.
The Malaysia Super League table has Sabah FC fourth of 12, with 6 points from four matches and 9 points behind the leaders. They opened with a 3-1 win over Star City FC and a 2-0 win over Penang FC, both at Likas Stadium. The two defeats followed on the same ground: 2-0 to Kuching City FC on 5 September and 2-1 to DPMM FC on 13 September. They have scored 6 and conceded 5.
Torres expects a hard game in Paroi, with Negeri Sembilan FC playing in front of their own supporters, MFL reports. He called Daniel Gimenez’s side difficult to read, especially when they chase late goals, and said they were getting several important players back from injury. MFL has Negeri Sembilan FC eighth in the table.
Torres added that his side were working this week on regaining the fitness of several players, and that he hoped almost the whole squad would be ready for the match.
The Matchday 5 meeting is at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Seremban, on 17 October (Saturday), kicking off at 5pm Malaysian time.
