Selangor FC head coach Kim Pan-gon expects Faisal’s recovery from injury to take longer than first planned, he said in the club’s preview of the Malaysia Super League match against Penang FC.
In the preview, published on 16 October, Kim referred to the player as Mickey and said: “we expect his recovery to take longer than initially anticipated because his injury is quite serious”. He also admitted that the squad had been through a difficult spell: “Over the past few days, the team’s condition has not been very good.”
Kim said his staff had studied Penang FC and found “a very good striker, a strong attacking line-up and a good defensive organisation”. “This certainly will not be an easy match,” he said.
Two thousand matches
The fixture is the club’s 2,000th since its founding in 1921, and Penang FC were also the opponents in the first of them, according to the preview. The same preview counts four wins and a draw for Selangor FC in the last five meetings between the sides. They last met on 2 May, when Selangor FC won 4-0 at MBPJ Stadium.
Selangor FC are third in the Malaysia Super League with 12 points from four matches, all of them wins, three points behind the leaders. Penang FC are ninth with four points from their four matches.
In their most recent match, on 11 October, Selangor FC lost 3-2 at home to Star City FC in the Malaysia FA Cup quarter-final second leg but still went through on aggregate.
Kick-off at MBPJ Stadium is at 8.15pm on 17 October. Selangor FC then host Kuching City FC at the same ground on 23 October in the first leg of their Malaysia FA Cup semi-final.
