Selangor FC head coach Kim Pan-gon wants his players to learn from their 3-2 home defeat by Star City FC on 11 October, a result that still sent them into the Malaysia FA Cup semi-finals 6-4 on aggregate.

The club’s match review says Zikri Khalili and Vitor Pernambuco put the hosts two goals up in the first half, before Moses Atede, Pedro Santos and Ramon Machado scored for the visitors after the break. The first leg at Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium on 19 September had finished 4-1 to Selangor FC.

Kim said the first match after an international break is usually hard for his side. “We played well, particularly in the first half,” he said. He made changes in the second half and tried some players in different positions. “I admit that some of the experiments worked, while others did not,” he said. He also pointed to the finishing: “We created plenty of chances but failed to convert them,” he added.

The club put the crowd at MBPJ Stadium at 3,757.

In the Malaysia Super League, Selangor FC are third with 12 points from four matches, all of them wins, three points behind the leaders.

Their Malaysia FA Cup semi-final is against Kuching City FC, with the first leg at MBPJ Stadium (dates and kickoffs). Before that, they host Penang FC in the league at MBPJ Stadium on 17 October, kicking off at 8.15pm.
