Kuching City FC beat Gangwon FC 2-0 at Stadium Taha Ariffin on 5 November, with S. Rasid scoring both goals in the first half of their fourth AFC Champions League Two group match.

Rasid opened the scoring in the 13th minute. He added the second in the 20th minute, from R. Saifullah’s assist, and Gangwon FC did not find a reply.

It is the Malaysian side’s first win in four group matches. They began with a 2-1 defeat by Phnom Penh Crown on 17 September, drew 1-1 with Kitchee on 15 October and were beaten 1-0 by Gangwon FC on 29 October. The two clubs have now met twice, with one win each.

In its report of the night, the AFC says the result revives Kuching City FC’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage. In the other Group H match on 5 November, Kitchee beat Phnom Penh Crown 2-1 in Hong Kong, according to the AFC.

Kuching City FC turn straight to the Malaysia FA Cup: they host Selangor FC in the second leg of the semi-final at Taha Ariffin Stadium on 8 November, kicking off at 7.45pm, after losing the first leg 2-1 to Selangor FC. Their next AFC Champions League Two match is at home to Phnom Penh Crown on 26 November, with kickoff at 6pm.
