MFL held an online meeting with the chief executives of Malaysian league clubs on Friday to discuss the haze and what it could mean for staging matches if air pollution readings worsen across the country, the league said in a statement on 16 October.

MFL chief executive Mohd Shazli Shaik Mohd led the briefing. Chief operating officer Harris Taufieq Zafri, the heads of MFL’s units and a representative of the Amateur Football League also took part, along with club representatives.

According to the statement, the briefing asked every club to keep track of the haze and to monitor the air pollution readings in their own area, especially in the run-up to matchdays. The safety of players, team officials, match staff and supporters was given particular emphasis.

The measures stressed included encouraging cooling breaks, wearing face masks, and providing suitable medical and logistical arrangements at match venues. Clubs were also encouraged to keep passing information and precautionary advice to their own supporters, based on conditions at the time.

MFL said it would keep monitoring the haze through the 2026-2027 season, which includes the Malaysia Super League, with the safety of everyone involved as its priority.
