Takumi Sasaki's return against Sabah FC not yet certain, Negeri Sembilan FC say

Negeri Sembilan FC say Takumi Sasaki is making positive progress in his recovery from the hamstring injury he picked up in August. The club gave the update on its website on 15 October, and said it cannot yet confirm whether he will be back for the visit of Sabah FC.

According to the club, the Japanese playmaker was hurt in a high-intensity training session a few days before the Malaysia Super League match against Melaka FC. He has since followed a structured rehabilitation programme overseen by the club’s medical and physiotherapy staff. The medical department is monitoring his progress day by day, so that his return to the squad is handled safely and a recurrence of the injury is avoided.

Sasaki told the club he was working hard every day with the medical team and could not wait to play again. He said his main focus was his recovery, so that he could help the team reach its targets this season.

His head coach has been preparing for the same fixture: Daniel Giménez wants discipline and fighting spirit against Sabah FC.

Negeri Sembilan FC are eighth in the Malaysia Super League with four points from four matches, from one win, one draw and two defeats. They have scored six and conceded seven, and sit 11 points behind the leaders.

They host Sabah FC in Matchday 5 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Seremban, on 17 October, kicking off at 5pm Malaysian time. A trip to DPMM FC follows on 30 October.
