Terengganu FC have stopped to look at themselves, and they have said so in public.
What the club said
In a statement on its own site, the club said it is using the break to reassess the team’s performance after a start to the season it described as less than encouraging.
The pause gives the coaching staff and the players room to identify what needs work — how the side fits together, the discipline in their play, and how effective they are going forward and at the back.
The club said it takes the early-season form seriously and understands the high expectations of its supporters, and that every training session will be used to sharpen the team.
The supporters were in the room
Representatives of supporters’ clubs attended a meeting with representatives of the team and the club’s management to be given an explanation about current form, and that meeting gave them room to put their views and concerns directly.
The club said it appreciates the supporters who have stayed with the team, and that the focus now is on showing improvement on the pitch when the season resumes.
What the table says
Terengganu FC are seventh in the Malaysia Super League with five points from four matches — one win, two draws and one defeat — four goals scored, four conceded, and ten points between them and the leaders.
The sequence explains the mood. They opened with a 3-0 win at home over Melaka FC, then lost 3-0 at home to Selangor FC, drew 0-0 with Penang FC and drew 1-1 away at Star City FC.
The cup ran out in the same stretch. They won 3-2 away at DPMM FC in the Malaysia FA Cup round of 16, then lost 3-1 at home in the second leg and went out 5-4 on aggregate.
What is waiting
When the league resumes, the visitors are Johor Darul Ta’zim: Matchday 5 at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on 18 October, kicking off at 21:00.
