Indonesia beat Bangladesh 9-2 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on 1 October and reached the FIFA ASEAN Cup final on goals scored. Mitchell Baker scored five of the nine, according to FIFA’s match report.
FIFA’s report has Baker opening the scoring in the 11th minute from Ole Romeny’s cut-back and adding a second in the 20th minute. Rizky Ridho made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute before Shahriar Emon headed one back for Bangladesh in the 36th minute. Baker completed his hat-trick in the 37th minute and scored again in the 42nd minute. Justin Hubner converted Calvin Verdonk’s corner at 45+1’ to make it 6-1 at half-time.
The hosts needed to better the result of Harimau Malaya against Singapore in Group A’s other fixture, and Harimau Malaya won that match 6-0. Luke Vickery scored a seventh in the 90th minute, but Farhaan Ali Wahid replied for Bangladesh at 90+1’. Kevin Diks then scored at 90+6’ and Baker at 90+7’, which took Indonesia above Harimau Malaya on goals scored at the top of the group. The Malaysian side’s 6-0 win over Singapore was not enough.
Indonesia finished the group unbeaten, with two wins and a draw. Bangladesh lost all three of their matches.
Indonesia play Thailand in the final at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 5 October, kicking off at 9pm Malaysian time.
