The 2-0 win at Pohang Steelers on 13 October was the 100th match Johor Darul Ta’zim have played in Asian and regional competitions, the club said on 14 October. By the club’s count, that run began in 2015, the first year it played in them.
A second post the same day broke the record down by competition. Of those games, 56 came in the AFC Champions League, where the club puts its record at 21 victories, 26 losses and nine games drawn. Another 36 came in the AFC Cup, where it lists 24 victories, seven losses and five games drawn. The post also calls Johor Darul Ta’zim the only Southeast Asian team to have won the AFC Cup, in 2015.
Marcos Guilherme scored both goals in the 2-0 win at Pohang Steel Yard, in the 49th minute and the 89th minute, with Shahab Zahedi setting up the first. It was the club’s second game of the AFC Champions League league stage.
At home, Johor Darul Ta’zim are top of the Malaysia Super League with 15 points from five matches. They play Terengganu FC at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Kuala Nerus, on 18 October, kicking off at 9pm Malaysian time. Their third league-stage match in Asia follows on 27 October, when they host Port FC at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium at 6pm.
