Johor Darul Ta’zim are sixth of the 16 clubs in the eastern league phase of the AFC Champions League, on four points from their opening two matches, according to a round-up ASEAN United FC published on 16 October. The top eight in that phase go through to the knockout rounds.

The points came from a 1-1 draw with Buriram United at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on 15 September and the 2-0 win over Pohang Steelers at Pohang Steel Yard on 13 October. Marcos Guilherme scored both goals in Pohang, in the 49th minute and again in the 89th minute.

Every other ASEAN club in the AFC Champions League lost in the second round. Buriram United were beaten 1-0 by Beijing Guoan FC, and Ratchaburi lost by the same score to Kyoto Sanga FC. Port FC went down 5-1 away to Kashiwa Reysol, who scored all five of their goals in the first 28 minutes.

In the AFC Champions League Two, Kuching City FC took their first point in Group H with a 1-1 draw against Kitchee. The match was played at Taha Ariffin Stadium on 15 October. “A point at home,” the club wrote in its full-time post.

Two of those beaten ASEAN sides are still to come for Johor Darul Ta’zim in the league phase. Port FC visit Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in League Stage 3 on 27 October, kicking off at 6pm Malaysian time, and Johor Darul Ta’zim travel to Dragon Solar Park, Ratchaburi, to face Ratchaburi in League Stage 5 on 24 November, kicking off at 8.15pm.
