Kuching City FC do not play again for a fortnight, and Aidil Sharin Sahak wants the pause to earn its keep.

What the break is for

The head coach told the league’s own channel that the FIFA international window gives his players room to reset and come back stronger, with the club’s first ASEAN Club Championship match of the season waiting at the end of it.

Two weeks, he said, is room enough to get back to full sharpness and to tidy up parts of the team’s play before they meet Tampines Rovers on 7 October and then play the Malaysia FA Cup quarter-final second leg on 10 October.

A tie that is still level

The second leg is the one the calendar has been building towards. Kelantan City FC and Kuching City FC drew 0-0 in the first leg at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu, and the return is at Taha Ariffin Stadium in Kuching on 10 October.

Aidil Sharin Sahak said his players were too eager to score, that the match rose in intensity, and that in the end no goal came. He described Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium as a ground that has often made scoring hard for his side.

The league position behind it

The break arrives with Kuching City FC second in the Malaysia Super League: five matches played, four won, one lost, 12 points on the board and three behind the leaders. They have scored 15 and conceded four.

Their last five league matches read four wins and one defeat.

The coach saw it the same way. He said his team are still second in the Malaysia Super League and that the chance in the Malaysia FA Cup is still there.
