Sabah FC’s Spanish import Miguel Cifuentes says he is in the best physical shape he has been in since the season began, and that he still wants to give the side more.
MFL carried the interview on 29 September, on its own website and on its official account.
Back from a broken finger
Cifuentes told MFL that the injury he carried last season was a small fracture at the tip of his little finger, and not a serious one, but that it still needed enough recovery time to keep him out of the closing seven Malaysia Super League matches of that campaign.
He says he has played in every match since the league’s opening round, that he is fully fit now, and that his physical statistics read higher than those of most of the squad.
What the table says
Sabah FC are fourth in the Malaysia Super League after four matches, on six points from two wins and two defeats, nine behind the leaders.
All four have been played at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu: wins over Star City FC and Penang FC, then a defeat by Kuching City FC and a 1-2 loss to DPMM FC on 13 September.
Six goals scored and five conceded is a thin margin, and the two defeats came in the two most recent of those four.
The restart
The Malaysia Super League resumes for Sabah FC away at Negeri Sembilan FC on 17 October, Matchday 5 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Seremban.
Before then, Cifuentes said the squad has a friendly against Kuching City FC this Thursday, and that the break is going on tactical work with the coach and on getting his own condition where he wants it.
