Star City FC beat Selangor FC 3-2 at MBPJ Stadium in Petaling Jaya on 11 October, but the hosts still reached the semi-finals of the Malaysia FA Cup 6-4 on aggregate. Selangor FC had won the first leg 4-1 at Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium on 19 September.

The home side added to that lead early. Z. Khalili scored in the 9th minute and Vitor Pernambuco made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute.

Star City FC turned the match after the break. M. Atede pulled one back in the 61st minute, Pedro Santos equalised in the 75th minute and Ramon Machado scored the winner in the 90th minute. It was not enough to close a three-goal gap from the first leg.

Before the return leg, Selangor FC head coach Kim Pan-gon had warned his squad in the club’s match preview: “I hope the players will not become complacent.”

In the Malaysia Super League, Selangor FC are third with 12 points from four matches, three behind the leaders. Star City FC are 11th of 12 with two points.

Star City FC visit Kelantan Red Warrior FC at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu, on 16 October, kicking off at 9pm. Selangor FC host Penang FC at MBPJ Stadium on 17 October at 8.15pm, and the two sides meet again in the league at the same ground on 1 November.
