Singapore beat Bangladesh 1-0 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 28 September, a Division 1 group-stage match of the FIFA ASEAN Cup that kicked off at 17:00 Malaysian time.
The only goal
Harhys Stewart headed it in shortly before the interval, in the 35th minute, and FIFA’s own report of the match credits the left-back Nur Adam Abdullah with the cross that made it.
FIFA’s report frames the tie as one “In a clash of nations that had lost their opening fixtures”, and has the goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Srabon holding the score before it, “after a fingertip save from Mehedi Hasan Srabon had denied Ikhsan Fandi”.
What it does in Group A
This was the second Division 1 group match for both sides. Singapore now have one win and one defeat from two, and Bangladesh two defeats from two.
FIFA’s report puts Singapore back in contention for the title on the strength of it.
The rest of the group
Later the same evening, at the same ground, Harimau Malaya met Indonesia in the day’s other Group A tie.
Both of the group’s closing matches fall on 1 October. Harimau Malaya play Singapore at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, and Indonesia play Bangladesh at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium; both kick off at 8.30pm Malaysian time.
