Tan Cheng Hoe says it is for FAM to make the call on his position and that he is ready to carry on working with Harimau Malaya, according to a post by reporter Zulhelmi Zainal Azam on 6 October.

The post followed the FIFA ASEAN Cup bronze final in Jakarta on 5 October, which Harimau Malaya won 1-0 against Vietnam at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. FIFA’s match report says substitute Fergus Tierney scored the only goal, in the 62nd minute.

The win completed an unbeaten tournament for the side: three wins and a draw from four matches. They beat Bangladesh 3-0 on 25 September, drew 0-0 with Indonesia on 28 September and beat Singapore 6-0 on 1 October. They were the only team not to concede in the group stage, yet Indonesia took the place in the final on goals scored.

In August, Vietnam had beaten Harimau Malaya 2-0 in both legs of the ASEAN Championship semi-final.

The newly elected FAM president, Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan, has announced a two-match series against China, according to AFF on 30 September. Harimau Malaya play China in Guangzhou on 14 and 17 November.
