Vietnam came from a goal down to beat Pakistan 4-2 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on 2 October, earning a place in the FIFA ASEAN Cup bronze final against Harimau Malaya.
FIFA’s match report has centre-back Mohib Ullah putting Pakistan ahead in the 31st minute, running on to a slack back pass for his first international goal. Kim Sangsik changed his side at half-time, and Nguyen Hai Long equalised in the 50th minute after collecting a ball from Phan Tuan Tai, one of the new arrivals.
Nguyen Hoang Duc put Vietnam ahead in the 57th minute with a first-time shot from just outside the area, set up by Nguyen Dinh Bac, another half-time substitute. Dinh Bac scored the third himself in the 80th minute. Kaleemullah Khan pulled one back in the 88th minute when his long-range shot deflected past Le Giang Patrik. Williams Minh Hoang settled it at 90+1’, his first international goal, from another Dinh Bac pass.
Pakistan, coached by Nolberto Solano, sit 99 places below Vietnam in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, according to FIFA.
Vietnam end the group with two wins and one defeat, the loss a 2-0 against Thailand on 29 September. Pakistan finish with one draw and two defeats.
