No Malaysian club side had won a match in Korea Republic before Johor Darul Ta’zim beat Pohang Steelers 2-0 on 13 October, according to the AFC. The confederation’s account of the game, published on 14 October, says head coach Xisco Munoz was left beaming by the result.

Marcos Guilherme scored both goals in the 2-0 win at Pohang Steel Yard, in the 49th minute and the 89th minute. Shahab Zahedi set up the first.

It was the club’s second game of the AFC Champions League league stage. They opened it with a 1-1 draw against Buriram United at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on 15 September, and are unbeaten in the competition after two matches.

At home, Johor Darul Ta’zim lead the Malaysia Super League table with 15 points from five matches. They have scored 25 goals and conceded none.

Johor Darul Ta’zim play Terengganu FC at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Kuala Nerus, on 18 October, kicking off at 9pm Malaysian time. Their third AFC Champions League league-stage match follows on 27 October, when they host Port FC at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium at 6pm.
