Johor Darul Ta’zim have 15 points and 25 goals from five matches, and have conceded none

Johor Darul Ta’zim say they have taken the maximum 15 points from five Malaysia Super League matches, scored 25 goals and conceded none. The league table says the same.

Johor Darul Ta’zim are five matches into their Malaysia Super League season and have still to concede a goal.

The club set the figures out itself on 28 September, saying it had “scored 25 goals and not conceded a goal after five matches”. That is the kind of line a club writes about itself. On this occasion the league table says the same thing.

What the table holds

Johor Darul Ta’zim are top of the Malaysia Super League on 15 points, which is every point available from five matches. Five wins, no draws and no defeats; 25 goals scored, none against, and a goal difference of 25.

The five are not simply the first five rounds. The heaviest win is recorded as Matchday 6, while the table has Johor Darul Ta’zim on five matches played, so the season has run ahead of the number of games this side has completed in it.

The heaviest night

That win was 9-0 over Kelantan Red Warrior FC, at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on 26 August.

Kelantan Red Warrior FC’s season has run the other way. They are last of the twelve clubs in the division, without a point from five matches, four goals scored and 24 conceded, 15 points behind the top of the table.

The gap between the two clubs is the story of the division so far, and it is wide enough that the phrase the club used for itself is hard to argue with on the evidence of the table alone.

What comes next

The next league match for Johor Darul Ta’zim is away to Terengganu FC on 18 October.

The club’s other sides have been in action too: the second team met Singapore’s U22 side in a friendly, and the academy team is at the top of the Piala Presiden.
