Tan Cheng Hoe names 24 for Harimau Malaya's matches against China and Yemen in Guangdong

Interim head coach Tan Cheng Hoe has picked 24 players for Harimau Malaya’s two Tier 1 internationals in Guangdong this month, FAM announced on 3 November. Harimau Malaya meet China on 14 November and Yemen on 17 November, both at Zhaoqing New District Sports Centre.

According to FAM, Cheng Hoe has kept 11 players from the 23-man squad that finished third at the FIFA ASEAN Cup in Jakarta and Bandung. That tournament ended for Harimau Malaya with a 1-0 win over Vietnam in the bronze final at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 5 October. Three more return from the ASEAN Championship squad of July and August, and the other 10 include two first call-ups. They are Ahmad Haziq Kutty Abba of Terengganu FC and A. Selvan of Selangor FC.

Selangor FC supply seven of the 24 on FAM’s list, Kuching City FC six and Terengganu FC five. Paulo Josue of Kuala Lumpur City and Endrick Dos Santos of Star City FC complete the Malaysia-based group, while Dion Cools, Daniel Ting, Richard Chin and Fergus Tierney come in from clubs abroad. No Johor Darul Ta’zim player is on the list.

FAM also named 15 players on a standby list in case of changes, among them Dominic Tan and Darren Lok of Sabah FC and Syafiq Ahmad of Kuala Lumpur City. In the latest FIFA ranking cited by FAM, Harimau Malaya are 133rd, China 96th and Yemen 144th.

The players report on 9 November and fly to China on 10 November. FAM lists the China match for 8:00pm on 14 November and the Yemen match for 2:00pm on 17 November.
