Syahir Bashah scored the fifth of Harimau Malaya’s six goals against Singapore in Bandung on 1 October, in the 87th minute, FIFA’s match report says. He had not been in the starting eleven.
The win was not enough: Indonesia scored in the 96th and 97th minutes in Jakarta to take the Group A place in the final. Bergson scored three times in the 6-0 win in Bandung, the first of them a penalty, with Stuart Wilkin and Paulo Josue adding the others.
Selangor FC had posted earlier that day that five of their players were with the squad for the third Group A match: Faisal Halim, Quentin Cheng, Nooa Laine, Harith Haiqal and Syahir Bashah. Two of them, Quentin Cheng and Nooa Laine, were in the eleven that started, according to MFL’s line-up graphic.
The group began for Harimau Malaya with a 3-0 win over Bangladesh at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta on 25 September. They then drew with Indonesia earlier in the week before the Bandung match.
Harimau Malaya now go into Monday’s bronze final, where they meet the Group B runners-up.
